We recently had a surprise tour to the High Range region. The eastern side of Kerala is called High Ranges because of the height the area is having from the sea level. We have actually planned to visit a temple, Valliankavu which is deep inside the rubber plantations near Mundakayam. It is actually about 14 km away from the main road at Mundakayam. The plantations seems to be converted from the dense forest in the past. The temple is said to be set up by the adivassi tribe. We can very well feel this when we visit the place. It is at the base of a a gorge. The place Mundakayam itself is very beautiful. We have passed through beautiful landscape which had lots of Pineapple plantations.
The road from the place where we turn to Valliankavu temple is the Kottayam-Kumily road. The journey ahead to Kumily is exiting. We travel through one side of the hill. One the right side is steep hills and the left side we can witness deep gorge. The sight of the clouds touching the hills is very beautiful.
