Valiyazheekkal....

Visited Valiyazheekkal, Alleppey District..
The fishing harbour is coming up..
It is about 500 mtrs into the see...
Nice to watch the sea, boats coming to the coast through the pozhi, ie., the meeting point of the lake and the sea...
Huge blocks of rocks put into the sea to make the harbour....
This place was the most affected part when tsunami hit in 2004...
You have to go through the road which is cleared of the mountain of sands put into the land by the waves...
The land is such one which is only half kms wide with the backwaters on one side and the sea on the other....
The place is said to be reclaimed from the lake before independence of India....
The peculiarity is that there are no tall trees.. Because the reclamation started only about 60 years back and the land is full of coconut palms...
There is no place like this in kerala
