Belur

This is a few snaps from my tour to Belur which is in Hassan District of Karnataka. This was constructed during the Hoysala Dynasty. Belur was the capital of Hoysala Kingdom. One can visit Chennakesava temple complex which contains the Chennakesava Temple (Chennakeshava  means 'handsome Vishnu') as the centre piece, surrounded by the Kappe Chennigraya temple.  This is a beautiful example of the Hoysala architecture.   This was built by King Vishnuvardhana to commemorate the victory over Cholas. It is said that the Hoysala Kings took 107 years to complete this temple which is full of intricate statues...
hundreds of tourists visit this beautiful place...
One of the beautiful statues which you can find in Belur...
It is anatomically perfect and carved in such a way that you can find out that each bead in her ornaments are separate as if it is a real garland made of beads...
