A Boat Trip

There are plenty of tour ideas, which won't cost you the earth.
One such i have tried recently....
Go to Ernakulam.... To the Marine Drive...
Near the northern end is a boat jetty.... Called locally 'KINCO' jetty....
Owned by the Kerala Inland Navigation Corporation....
From here you can board the boat to Vypeen....
It is less than Ten Rupees.... The Vypeen trip is about 20 minutes long.
You will be going along the side of the new 'Gosri Bridges'....
On the way you will be going past Mangala Vanam, man made island and small forest.... It the resting place of many migrating birds.....
Get down at Vypeen..... Go to Fort Cochin via a Jungar Service..
Crossing the 'Azhimugham', the channel where the backwaters meets with the sea....
This itself is a very good journey for about 10 minutes....
The currents will be trying to draw the vessel to the sea.... Thrilling.....!
Get down at Fort cochin.... Here you can visit St. Francis church, where vasco da gama was cremated, before taking his mortal remains to his hometown....
Go to the other boat jetty.... This service is run by the SWTD, State Water Transport Department...
From here you will get the boat which will take you to the main land......
you will be travelling through the Shipping Channel, which is very deep and having more powerful under currents.... This also is thrilling.... You will be near the Ships which are anchored at the Cochin Port....

Go and enjoy......!
